AMD 2, Jake DeBolt

For my AMD this week, I watched Downfall. Es ist ein film about the dying days of Nazi Germany. It took place mostly in Hitler's bunker, but there were some scenes that took place in Berlin. They were some of the more heart-wrenching sequences of the movie. For example, there's one scene where we meet a Hitler Youth troop. Later on in the movie, we see this same child die in the Russian raid on Germany. This scene, along with the one scene that everyone posts on der Youtube with their own subtitles, is possibly the most memorable scene in the movie, simply because of the emphasis on the effects of war on those most innocent. Indeed, it also showed how wide Hitler's influence had spread by the time the Red Army had begun its offensive. The idea of a child dying such a horrible death on the frontlines is absolutely terrible, and as such, makes for great cinema. Overall, I enjoyed this movie, and Highly reccomend it to any German buff, as well as any supposed History scholar.
