livemocha.com

For my activity, I decided to use the suggestion and try livemocha.com. It's a really good idea for a social network and I really liked the way it was set up. For each unit there were four parts: learning, a quiz, writing and speaking. I really liked that they broke it down to small sections so it wasn't overwhelming.

After completing each unit you earned coins that you could then use on things like getting your writings reviewed by a trained livemocha professional. They also gave you suggestions of people that you could chat with to practice the language. I appreciated this because I could try out my German without feeling embarrassed for making mistakes because I knew I would never talk to that person again.

They also gave you options to review the work of other people that were trying to learn English. It gave the site a sense of community and that we were all working together to try to learn other languages.
